Microstructure Investigation and Cyclic Oxidation Resistance of Ce-Si-Modified Aluminide Coating Deposited by Pack Cementation on Inconel 738LC

The synergistic effect of Si and Ce addition on the oxidation resistance a pack cementation aluminide coating applied Ni-based IN738LC superalloy substrate was investigated in this study. structural thermal influences both Ce, focusing morphology, behavior, scale spallation tendency, are accordingly discussed based experimental results using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive analyses (EDX). For purpose, modified coatings evaluated by measuring weight gain coated samples after 16 h for each cycle at 1100 °C total 50 cycles process. investigations indicated that to improves through formation β-NiAl δ-Ni2Al3 phases, also δ-Ni2Si phases. Furthermore, 1% enhances fine-grained microstructure reduces outward/inward diffusion elements (so-called blocking effect), which significantly modifies cyclic resistance. enhancement may be attributed effects during deposition process reduce inward oxygen growth rate α-Al2O3 tests.
